Job Position and Purpose

 

The Director of Student Ministries develops, implements and oversees age appropriate youth ministry programming and relationship building.  This position reports to the Associate Pastor. 

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Build intentional relationships with students and families
  • Intentionally seek ways to incorporate youth in the larger ministry of the church (e.g. worship, mission, fellowship)
  • Develop and administer creative, developmentally appropriate programming
  • “Tower” (9th - 12th grade)
  1. Create curriculum, resource and teach
  2. Plan and implement monthly fellowship and mission opportunities
  3. Plan and develop two retreats/year engaging youth in fellowship and spiritual formation
  4. Support development, planning, fundraising and serve as pastoral leader for annual work trip (August)
  • Confirmation (7th and 8th grade)
  1. Create curriculum, resource and co-teach 
  2. Plan and implement bi-monthly mission opportunities
  3. Plan annual Confirmation retreat, engaging youth in fellowship and spiritual formation
  • Club 56 (5th and 6th grade)
  1. Plan and implement monthly Club 56 fellowship/mission events
  2. Create curriculum, resource and co-teach Club 56 on Sunday mornings
  3. Plan annual Club 56 Winter Retreat, engaging youth in fellowship and spiritual formation.

 

Compensation and Evaluation

The role is an exempt position with medical and pension benefits. The position is considered a full time role.

Job Skills, Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MDiv or MDiv-in-process preferred
  • Prior experience working with youth between 10-18 years of age, preferred
  • Person of joy-filled Christian faith and character with strong theological and biblical background
  • A passion for youth and an understanding of the current culture of pre-teens and teenagers
  • Takes initiative, well-organized, and articulate in word and writing.
